Art teacher Anne Lewis spurred on her students to submit artwork and they were rewarded with not just publication but a selection for the front page! Mount Vernon Gazette editors asked teachers from area schools to encourage students to contribute their works for their annual Children's Issue. Katie Lydon had one of her two pieces selected for the front page. Noah Phuong had two pieces published while Brendan Dietz, Johnathan Salgado and Bennett Smith each had one.
