Student Testing
Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) Tests
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) requires all students from across the state to take the SOL Tests if they are enrolled in certain courses. The online test is taken at the end of the year.
SOL tests measure the extent to which students have learned the content and skills specified in the Virginia SOLs.
Students enrolled in the following courses will be tested:
- English
- Algebra I
- Geometry
- Algebra II
- Earth Science
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Virginia and United States History
- World History I
- World History II
The purpose of the testing is to provide information about student achievement. Scores from the tests will be used to determine whether students fail to meet standards, are proficient in meeting the standards, or are advanced in the standards.
